About Bugalo College Bwirya

A community school with a long commitment to access and opportunity.

Founded in 1988 and government-aided since 2004, Bugalo College Bwirya continues to serve learners from rural communities in Butaleja District.

Our Story

Built from a community need for secondary education

Bugalo College Bwirya was founded on 12 February 1988 by the Catholic Church community with the aim of expanding access to affordable secondary education for learners from economically disadvantaged backgrounds.

Among the notable founders were the late Shiekh Adam Pulissi, the late Daudi Hasahya, the late Hissa Kyambalangu, the late Arnold Negule and the late Bazil Mulunghwe.

The school later became a government-aided institution on 22 July 2004 and has operated under USE since 2008 and UPOLET since 2011.
